Low Mile 1929 Fordor

Dean Drenzek was kind enough to allow me to post photos documenting a low mileage 1929 Fordor. The amount of detail available in the these photos is amazing.

Here's Dean in his own words:

"Dave Lopes contacted me about seeing an original Fordor for sale on eBay. The timing was perfect because I had just sold a Fordor and still had cash on hand. Dave said that he would be interested in cleaning and basically getting the Fordor back to working order. This turned out to be his last Model A project. Anyway the car was from Illinois and Steve Ciccalone helped get it to Dave in California. Dave worked on it for months. When he needed help Gary Karr and Mark Williamson would drive up to his place for a day or two. Eventually Dave got it done and against his doctor's orders we met in Las Vegas where he turned the Fordor back over to me. In a month or so I trailered it to Merriville, IN for the MARC National meet. It earned 442 points, a MARC of Excellence and a MARC of Originality. I'll never forget the phone call I had with Dave after the award ceremony. In the years between our house was damaged by a storm and we remodeled. During that time I put the car in storage. Out of sight, out of mind I forgot to put the Gibbs Oil on the chassis to protect it from rusting. It is unfortunate that I didn't take these photos when the cleaning was "fresh". As you can see some of the undercarriage has developed rust in the last three years.

Since I don't fit in Model As too well and needed some money to finish A495 I decided to sell the Fordor. Before I sold it I took these photos. I wanted to make sure that I documented as much as possible. I am glad that it found a good home."

One thing that stands out to me is that while the Model A may have been inexpensive, it was NOT cheap.

I've added a slide show at the bottom of the page

Thanks Dean! Jim
